Putnam General Hospital was found guilty of negligence for hiring a doctor accused of mulitple cases of medical malpractice. The hospital hired the doctor in 2002. Since then over 100 medical malpractice lawsuits have been filed against the doctor.
The Putnam County Circuit Court jury deliberated about an hour Tuesday afternoon before holding the hospital responsible for allowing Doctor John King to practice there. The verdict means Putnam General will be a co-defendant in 122 medical malpractice lawsuits filed against King.
The lawsuits allege that King performed unnecessary surgeries, botched operations and committed other malpractice.
The hospital was sold last year and is now called CAMC Teays Valley.
